Official opening of the new Corfu Port Cruise Passenger Terminal with the Ports General Secretary

The ceremony took place on Monday at Corfu New Port. The Greek Ports General Secretary Mr. Lambridis was present and gave a brief address. The President and board members of Corfu Port Authority were present along with Corfu SYRIZA MP Kostas Pavlidis, Deputy Mayors Giorgos Pantelios, Noni Mastora and Theodoros Loukanaris, Regional Director of Education Kostas Gousis, SYRIZA Regional Secretary Tasos Tompros, Port Authority personnel and others.

It was decided by the Corfu Port Authority board that the new facility was necessary due to the overcrowding at the current terminal, especially on days when there are several cruise ships with passengers disembarking to visit Corfu. Cruise companies, especially those that use Corfu as a home port, have already expressed their satisfaction with this investment which will ensure that passengers won't have to spend too long on security and disembarkation procedures.

Statistics indicate that the existence of a home port will mean another 18 hours spent in Corfu. At the same time, it creates the opportunity for traders and service providers to develop their business.
