Man injured in Lefkimmi incidents on Sunday loses his hand

CORFU. One of the worst case scenarios happened on Sunday at Mesorahia, Lefkimmi - a 32-year-old man who was injured, lost his hand and is now in hospital, according to the police.
The injury was caused by an explosive device. According to the same sources, the injured man was holding the device when it went off, seriously injuring his right hand and causing more minor injuries to other parts of his body and his head. The injured man is a local resident.
Police are investigating the incident to find out exactly how it happened. There has been no official announcement from Lefkimmi but various scenarios are being discussed - mostly rumours. Residents have been called to the port this evening to take part in a protest on motorbikes heading towards Corfu Town.
