CORFU. It was announced at the Town Council meeting that the Solid Waste Management Service (SYDISA) has obtained (it is not known how) a second machine for the selection and baling of mixed waste - an absolute necessity for the decongestion of the Temploni facility and the Corfu roads.
This, after all, had been the purpose of the meeting in Athens last Wednesday.
In the meantime, preparations are underway for the transfer of the waste bales to Lefkimmi, although, of course, opposition from Lefkimmi residents continues. Some of these residents were at Monday's Council meeting, where the Mayor gave updates on the latest developments, which were followed by discussion.
