Corfu catering industry is organizing recycling of waste

CORFU. The President of the Corfu Association of Restaurateurs and Related Professions Nikos Vergetis issued the following announcement:
Dear Fellow Members,
The situation with the rubbish has made it even more important to improve our waste management .... Recycle NOW!
There doesn't seem to be any solution on the horizon so to begin with professionals in Kassiopi, Agni, Nissaki and Benitses came together to do what we can to improve the situation and we hope this will spreaad to the whole of Corfu.
We have come to an agreement with Dimitris Kotsis Recycling Company and he is ready to collect the following from businesses:
- Glass
- Plastic bottles
- Olive products
- Cardboard boxes
All the participating businesses will be given a badge by the Association to confirm their participation in the agreement and recycling bins will be provided for glass and plastic (bottles ONLY).
Cardboard boxes will be collected only if they are folded.
Collection has already started - since 18th June - in all of the above-mentioned areas.
We call upon all business to take part in this effort.
Our only hope of keeping the isand clean this year is by reducing the amount of waste.
- There is no cost - all it requires is your time and effort.
