Don΄t you dare open the road to the landfill in the south!

LEFKIMMI (CORFU). If the town council decides to asphalt the road leading to Lefkimmi landfill, then the Lefkimmi Cultural Society will organize a large demonstration in the area.
This was the decision that was taken at the residents' meeting on Saturday evening. According to the President, Maria Kontomari, the Society will not allow any abuse, as happened with the construction of the access road, by trespassing on expropriated property.
If this happens, she warns that they will take the matter to court - which could create another stumbling block in the licensing process and, by extension, the operation of the waste management facility.
Nonetheless, it is not known whether or not the contractor has been instructed to widen the road.
According to Ms Kontomari, along with representatives of the local organizations, local councillors from both the majority and minority parties also attended the meeting.
