CORFU. Lefkimmi Cultural Society has now changed its mind about participating in the representative committee due to meet with the Minister of the Interior on Wednesday.
The decision was taken at an extraordinary general assembly called solely for the purpose of reviewing the members’ previous decision.
Following the Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos’ statement that if the meeting with the Minister to request the removal of waste from Corfu for the interim period isn’t successful, then possibly the Lefkimmi landfill will be used, the Society’s members decided to withdraw from the committee.
The representative committee from Corfu is meeting with Panos Skourletis, Minister of the Interior, in Athens on Wednesday 28th February at 2pm to discuss the issue of waste management.
