CORFU. A 32-year-old foreigner was arrested on Saturday 28th January by officials of the Corfu Central Port Authority.
A nylon package containing 503 grams of loose shredded tobacco was found in the man’s possession, during a check by the Security Police at Corfu New Port on the arrival of a passenger ship. The tobacco, for which none of the prescribed tax charges had been paid, was intended for hand-rolled cigarettes.
The Central Port Authority of Corfu, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, impounded the tobacco.
