Four young Roma arrested for theft – police searching for another three

CORFU. The men broke into Corfu Town suburban houses and stole money and other valuables.

Four young Roma men – aged 15, 18 and two aged 21 – were arrested on Monday 8th January for separate incidents of theft.

Charges were brought against the four, as well as another three who are still being sought, of breaking and entering and theft.

Members of the group were found to have broken into houses in the suburbs of Corfu Town:
  • Friday 5th January – They stole 265 Euros and a mobile phone from a house in Kanalia.
  • Sunday 7th January – They stole jewellery worth 1.300 Euros and other objects from two houses in Kanalia and Kokkini.
  • Sunday 7th January – They attempted to break into a house in Triklino but were unsuccessful.
  • Sunday 24th December – They stole jewellery worth 800 Euros.
The police are investigating to see if they have been involved in any other similar crimes. The young men were taken to the Prosecutor’s Office.
