Woman injured in boat collision at Issos
CORFU. The skipper of the speedboat was arrested by Lefkimmi Port Station, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
A rented boat collided with a speedboat on Wednesday afternoon, August 13, in the Issos area, resulting in minor injuries to one of the passengers.
The rented boat, on which two German nationals were aboard, collided with a private speedboat flying the Italian flag.
The collision caused material damage to the rented boat, while the speedboat sustained scratches. In addition, a passenger from the speedboat had to be transported, accompanied by the Coast Guard, to Lefkimmi Health Centre for first aid, after which she was discharged.
The skipper of the speedboat was arrested by Lefkimmi Port Station, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, for violating Article 306 of the Penal Code (“Exposure”), and the departure of both vessels was prohibited until a seaworthiness certificate is provided by the competent ship surveyor.
No marine pollution was observed as a result of the incident.
