CORFU. Pupils from Italy, Poland and Corfu participated in the European Erasmus KA210 Programme.

(3rd High School) From March 31 to April 4, Corfu 3rd High School had the joy and honour of hosting the final part of the European Erasmus KA210 programme titled 'Our Future in One Water Drop'.

The programme began in February 2024 with dreams, plans, and the optimism of a generation that looks to the future with responsibility and hope. It received the excellent score of 98/100 upon its approval and quickly came to life—first in Poland in September, then in Aversa, Italy, in November, and now in Corfu, where the journey came to an end in a moving and deeply human way.

Pupils and teachers from three countries came together like drops from different sources that merged into a common stream. They shared knowledge, emotions, experiences, cultures, and values. Throughout the week, projects inspired by the programme’s central theme were presented, with the highlight being the activity ‘Water in Greek Mythology.’ In addition, visits were made to areas of environmental and cultural interest: Lake Antinioti, Lake Korission, North Corfu Environmental Centre, the Archaeological Museum, Mon Repos, the Old Town, and Gardiki Castle.

Through each activity, pupils and educators recognised the value of water not only as a natural resource but as our shared symbol—fragile, precious, and capable of uniting us beyond borders and language.

Emotions reached their peak on the final day with the farewell event. Dances, music, traditional delicacies—but above all, faces lit up with emotion and smiles hiding a sweet goodbye. It was there that the certificates of participation were also awarded.

A special moment was the warm reception of the delegation at the Town Hall by the Mayor of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, Stefanos Poulimenos, who welcomed the European partners with heartfelt words, highlighting the relevance of the topic of water and the importance of environmental awareness among the new generation.

Our sincere thanks go to:

  • The Deputy Mayor of North Corfu, Spyridoula Kokkali, for her tangible support.

  • Artemis Briasouli, head of the South Corfu Environmental Centre, for her valuable collaboration.

  • Mavromatis Distillery, for its generous sponsorship.

Special mention must be made of the principal of Corfu 3rd High School, Iphigenia Rakopoulou, who consistently supports every educational and European initiative with dedication and faith. Also, to the school's vice principals, Elena Sella and Dimitrios Konas, for their constant support and presence.

Erasmus programmes go beyond educational activities—they are bridges. They are doors opening to the world, with no ticket required. They are a guiding hand showing us that Europe is not just a map—it is its people. And when pupils participate without any financial burden, then the dream of equality in education becomes a reality.

The programme was implemented by the educational team of the 3rd High School with dedication and enthusiasm. The participating teachers were:

  • Spyridon Kontostanos – Programme Coordinator

  • Stamatela Kouda

  • Ioanna Kompolitou

  • Gerasimos Gasteratos

  • Fotini Hondroyianni

In closing, as the final drop of the programme touches the surface, it creates waves of memory, emotion, and inspiration. May this journey be just the beginning of many more to come. Because no drop is ever too small—when it joins with others, it creates a sea.
