CORFU. The Forum will take place on Saturday 5 April, starting at 10 a.m.
(North Corfu Municipality) The Municipality of North Corfu is taking a pioneering role in the Circular Municipalities Forum, leading the way by organising this event—a gathering focused on innovation and sustainable development. The forum will showcase best practices and strategies for transitioning local communities to a circular economy.
The event will take place on Saturday, April 5, starting at 10:00 AM, at the Kouloura Municipal Building (formerly the Kassopaia Town Hall), with the theme:
"INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN PRACTICE – SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN GREECE" – HONORARY AWARDS
The forum will bring together representatives of local government, experts in sustainable development, academics, and organisations that are implementing circular economy solutions. Participating municipalities include Aigialeia, Eretria, Nea Smyrni, Palaio Faliro, Saronikos, Halandri and Chania.
With a focus on sustainable resource management, recycling, innovation and green technologies, the forum aims to serve as a knowledge and collaboration hub, providing practical tools to create cities and municipalities that respect the environment, strengthen local economies, and enhance the quality of life for citizens.
The Municipality of North Corfu is also launching an innovative award initiative, recognising individuals whose work, dedication, and vision have left a lasting impact on society in areas such as the circular economy, local governance, social welfare, culture, education, and health.
This recognition is not just a tribute to the past but also a message for the future—highlighting the need for visionary, action-driven, and dedicated individuals in local governance and beyond. The Municipality of North Corfu will continue to honour, support, and draw inspiration from their examples.
On April 5, the municipality will have the honour of announcing the awards to personalities who have made remarkable contributions to local governance and the circular economy.
