Celebration of World Tour Guide Day a success again this year!

(Union of Certified Tour Guides) As every year, the Ionian Islands and Western Greece Union of Certified Tour Guides, once again offered free guided tours to the pupils of our island’s schools in celebration of World Tour Guide Day.
More than 2,500 pupils, along with their accompanying teachers, were guided through the Historic Centre of the town and the museums of Asian Art, Antivouniotissa, the Archaeological Museum, and the Capodistrias Museum.
The pupils' response and their keen interest in learning about our cultural heritage were truly admirable. Through the passion and love that tour guides have for their profession, the children were able to discover aspects of our local history that were previously unknown to them.
As part of its initiatives, the Union of Certified Tour Guides frequently offers free guided tours, either for the benefit of the community, upon request by local authorities, or to promote tourism on our island.
The collaboration with the Municipality of Central Corfu, the staff and administrations of the museums, as well as the Ephorate of Antiquities, was excellent, and we would like to express our gratitude to them. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to the Traffic Police for ensuring the safety of the children.
Finally, we would like to express our appreciation to the Primary and Secondary Education Departments, but above all, to the teachers and pupils who responded to our invitation.
