"Corfu – The Island of Salvation" - A moving event in Liapades
CORFU. How many great things can become reality if people come together...
A unique event took place on Saturday, February 8, in the Liapades unior High School hall. The Corfu Association of Greek-Serbian Friendship, the Orthodox Sports Union "Holy Serbia," and the Serbian Cultural Group "Serbika" from Gnjilane organised a theatrical presentation titled "Corfu – The Island of Salvation" to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the "Serbian Golgotha." The event featured the Liapades Philharmonic Orchestra and the Agios Mathaios Choir.
The evening was filled with emotion—not only because of the collaboration between the Liapades Philharmonic and the Agios Mathaios Choir with the Serbian actors, nor just because of the packed event hall, or the professionalism and dedication of the participants. It was moving because this performance highlighted the power of unity and cooperation!
How many great things can become reality when people come together... How special the evening was, seeing entire families there, enjoying themselves and helping one another.
Grandparents with their children and grandchildren. Events like these bring the community together and strengthen family bonds.
And finally, the deeply moving theme of the theatrical performance, combined with the powerful narrations, the choir’s melodies, and the mesmerising music of the Liapades Philharmonic Orchestra, created a truly unforgettable experience.
Congratulations to the president of the Philharmonic Society, Nikos Bozikis, and the community president, Yiannis Agathos. But also to all the unsung heroes who, through their voluntary efforts, managed to make the impossible possible! The event hall came to life... and it will continue to do so.
