CORFU. "The volunteers at Liapades Recycling Centre managed to mobilise and inspire other residents to become volunteers, to become protagonists in the protection of the environment."

On Wednesday, 10 July, the Liapades Recycling Centre, one of the first to be established in Corfu in 2018, celebrated its 6th birthday.

The North Corfu Deputy Mayor of Circular Economy, Spyridoula Kokkali, who attended the event, posted the following on social media: "Operating exclusively with the contribution of volunteers, it has proven that collective action and love for the environment can change the world. Each of these volunteers is a true guardian of nature, inspiring not only their own community but also others to follow their example.

"The volunteers at Liapades Recycling Centre managed to mobilise and inspire other residents to become volunteers, to become protagonists in the protection of the environment."

She continued by stating:

"I would like to express my warmest thanks to these unsung heroes, who with their work show us the way to a cleaner and more sustainable world. Their dedication and tireless effort remind us that together we can make a difference.

We continue with determination.

The 200 recycling corners in the Municipality of North Corfu also promote volunteerism and citizen participation in this noble mission.

Let us continue to build our future with respect and love for the environment. Together we can achieve miracles!"
