New gynaecologist appointed at Corfu Hospital Maternity & Gynaecology Clinic
CORFU. The Director of Corfu General Hospital, Phivos Kakavitsas, announced the appointment of a new permanent gynaecologist yesterday.
The Ministry of Health had requested the appointment a year ago as a matter of urgency as the clinic at that time had only 3 gynaecologists, of which the Director was due to retire.
Following the retirement of the former Director on 31st December 2017, the clinic now has 6 gynaecologists – 3 permanent and 3 auxiliary – and the morning clinic is fully operational once more as is the emergency cover with the availability of specialist doctors on a 24-hour basis.
With this appointment the hospital now has 99 specialist doctors – the most it has had since it opened – and the beneficial results of this have become obvious in its daily functions to serve the public.
