Ionian Region standing by for extreme weather conditions. What is the forecast?

CORFU. Due to the forecast for extreme weather conditions, with strong winds and rain expected in Corfu and the Ionian region until Saturday 18th, the Regional Administration has made the following announcement:
- All necessary measures should be taken by the appropriate services in the region (Fire Service, Technical Services, Civil Protection, Police etc.) in readiness for possible emergency needs.
- The public to be updated (by mass media) so that they can avoid the following – going out if not necessary (especially in heavy rain), torrents, parking their cars under trees etc. Hopefully, difficult situations can be avoided and the public’s safety ensured.
National Meteorological Service (EMY): Special Forecast of Dangerous Weather Conditions – Wednesday 15/11 – Sunday 19/11.
Heavy rain and storms will continue over the next few days and in some areas there will be hailstorms and very strong winds.
Specifically:
- Thursday 16th. Sporadically in the Ionian region, Epirus, Evia, Sporades and probably in western Crete and western Cyclades during the night.
- Friday 17th. Probably Epirus for the duration of the morning. The Ionian (mainly south Corfu), Sporades, Evia, Cyclades, west Crete and the mainland (with the exception of Thrace and Eastern Macedonia).
- Saturday 18th. Initially the whole country except for Epirus and Corfu. By night, conditions will have become milder in the Ionian, Crete and the mainland (except for Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace).
- Sunday 19th. Until the afternoon, probably Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the islands in the Eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese Islands.
