“Sea Wolves – Guardians of the Sea”: An initiative by Mar-Bella Collection in collaboration with Corfu Mermaids

Committed to preserving the natural beauty of Corfu, the hotel group Mar-Bella Collection is proud to announce the experiential workshop “Sea Wolves – Guardians of the Sea.”

The activity, which will take place on Saturday, May 23, at Agios Ioannis Peristeron Beach in collaboration with the volunteer group Mermaids In Action, is a flagship initiative of the Group aimed at raising awareness among the younger generation about marine biodiversity.

The initiative invites young participants on an exciting mission to explore and care for the marine ecosystem. Through activities, role-playing games, and creative storytelling, children will discover the vastness of the sea, understand the importance of marine biodiversity, and become aware of the threats facing marine organisms, taking an active role in their protection.

Event Programme:

Location: Agios Ioannis Peristeron Beach

11:00 – Welcome: Reception of guests

11:30 – Children’s Workshop: An interactive session where children will meet “Corfu Mermaids” and explore the magical world of the seabed.

11:45 – Symbolic beach clean-up: An experiential activity where children and adults actively participate in cleaning the beach, learning the importance of personal responsibility.

12:20 – Surprise visit: Appearance of mermaids highlighting the impact of pollution on their “home,” the marine environment, and marine life through an educational game.

13:00 – Mar-Bella Collection will offer light snacks to participants.

13:30 – Award Ceremony: Presentation of certificates of participation to the children involved in the activity.

The workshop “Sea Wolves – Guardians of the Sea” is an environmental education experience that combines knowledge with play, cultivating love, respect, and responsibility toward nature in children. The event is open to the public and participation is free of charge, as the aim of Mar-Bella Collection is to raise awareness among the local community and the island’s visitors.

“At Mar-Bella Collection, our commitment to sustainability includes tangible action for the protection of the marine environment,” says Anastasia Psarra, Corporate Communications & ESG Manager of Mar-Bella Collection. “Creating a positive impact in the destinations where we operate is a core priority, with inspiring and educating the next generation being one of the most important parts of this effort.”

“We are especially pleased that a group like Mar-Bella Collection, for the second consecutive year, is committed as a local business to the protection of Corfu’s valuable marine wealth,” adds Sophia Michalopoulou, founder of Corfu Mermaids.

“When we can see the place where we live from a different perspective, like that of the Mermaid of Corfu, perhaps we can become more deeply aware and take better care of its beauty—so that future children can also experience the magical world of the seabed.”

“You… can you see it?”

“Together we can change the tide.”
