CORFU. Traffic chaos at Kanalia and Katsidimi.
Construction works in the Kanalia–Katsimidi area on Tuesday, 2 September caused major traffic problems, with vehicles reduced to a single lane and alternating flow to and from the town. The resulting traffic jams stretched all the way to Perama, across from Pontikonisi.
The incident once again underscored the poor condition of the Corfu Town–South Corfu road and the risks it entails: in the event of an accident or fire, it would be nearly impossible for ambulances and fire engines to reach the scene.
