Collaboration between three municipalities and Chamber of Commerce for tourism

CORFU. The purpose of the meeting was to establish a partnership for tourism, following the model of other destinations in the country. It was unanimously agreed that Corfu is a unified destination with a distinct identity and shared needs for promotion and management.

On Monday morning, a meeting was held at the Old Town Hall,  with the participation of the Central Corfu Deputy Mayor of Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyros Halikopoulos; the North Corfu Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Outreach, and Business, Nikos Hirdaris; the South Corfu Councillor responsible for Tourism and Public Relations, Angeliki Skolariki; and the President of the Corfu Chamber of Commerce, Kostas Mouzakitis.

The purpose of the meeting was to establish a tourism partnership, following the model of other destinations in the country. It was unanimously agreed that Corfu is a unified destination with a distinct identity and shared needs for promotion and management.

As a result, the collaboration of all three Municipalities, along with their alignment with the Ionian Islands Regional Authority and key tourism and business stakeholders, is considered essential for the destination to adapt to modern competitive conditions and sustainability challenges.

The representatives of the three Municipalities agreed on the signing of a cooperation memorandum with specific objectives, involving the Chamber of Commerce and other organisations to pool resources and efforts. Among other initiatives, they agreed on a unified branding strategy, a coordinated approach to tourism exhibitions and modern promotional campaigns, as well as actions to enhance the tourism product and implement educational programmes.
