CORFU. 4,684 vehicles were checked in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
Traffic Police carried out an increased number of checks between 20/12 and 8/1 in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada with 185 units.
4,684 vehicles were checked
1,034 offences were confirmed (526 in Corfu, 340 in Zakynthos, 103 in Cephalonia and 65 in Lefkada).
These included the following:
- 205 for speeding
- 110 for not using helmets
- 33 for driving without a licence
- 48 for not using seat belts
- 34 for MOT violations
- 34 for driving under the influence
- 9 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 14 for using a mobile phone whilst driving
- 6 for driving dangerously
- 2 for not observing right of way
- 1 for running a red light
- 538 for other offences
