CORFU. The aim of the Municipality΄s presence at the World Travel Market in London was to enhance the promotion of its tourism product through business meetings with organisations and companies, as well as to monitor developments in the tourism sector by participating in conference lectures and discussions.

(Central Corfu Municipality) The largest tourism fair in Europe, the World Travel Market in London, came to a close yesterday. The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands was represented at the Ionian Islands Regional stand by the Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyros Chalikopoulos.

The aim of the Municipality's presence at the World Travel Market in London was to enhance the promotion of its tourism product through business meetings with organisations and companies, as well as to monitor developments in the tourism sector by participating in conference lectures and discussions.

Current trends include the development of sustainable practices and policies, as well as the use of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, across the entire spectrum of tourism activities.

As a result, partnerships and synergies were sought to promote thematic alternative experiences in the Municipality and to strengthen off-peak periods.

At the same time, contacts and actions were made to explore the market climate and trends, keeping in mind the broader international situation and challenges on an economic and political level.

The goals were achieved, and in preparation for the upcoming tourism season, the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, in collaboration with the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, tourism bodies, and the business community of Corfu, is ready to respond to market demands and contribute to the sustainability of tourism-related economic activity, which is the primary source of income and employment on the island.
