Passenger, 79, dies on ferry coming from Italy

CORFU. The man was taken to Corfu Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
A 79-year-old Bulgarian national, died on Tuesday afternoon, 13/08, on the scheduled ferry service from Italy to Igoumenitsa.
Corfu Port Authority was informed by the captain of a passenger-vehicle ferry that the 79-year-old man suddenly felt unwell and lost consciousness. The ship docked at the port of Corfu to disembark the man.
Initially, first aid was provided by private doctors, and then he was taken by ambulance to Corfu General Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Corfu Central Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, has ordered an autopsy.
