Central Corfu Mayor meets with EYDAP officials
CORFU. New drillings in Gastouri, Benitses, and Afra.
The Mayor of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, Stefanos Poulimenos, and DEYA representatives met with officials from EYDAP (Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company) on Friday morning, 12/07.
The meeting took place as part of the mission of EYDAP officials to collaborate and support the work of regional water supply and sewerage companies.
According to the mayor, the most important thing that DEYA officials who attended this meeting can gain is know-how. Additionally, he did not rule out the signing of a programmatic agreement between the two companies.
Drillings
Regarding the problem of water scarcity that is troubling several areas on the island (such as Gastouri, Agios Gordios, etc.), the Mayor said that three successful drillings have been conducted in Gastouri, Benitses and Afra, with a fourth one pending in Kato Garouna, and more to follow.
If this measure does not yield results, consumption restrictions will be implemented and, possibly, the aqueduct will be reinforced from a neighbouring area with better operating conditions.
