Donation of defibrillator to ΄Melissa΄ Special Needs Centre

CORFU. The donation was from Smart Gadgets Corfu.

Smart Gadgets Corfu has donated a portable external defibrillator to the 'Melissa' special needs centre. The defibrillator was installed inside the building and is now an important aid for the centre. The machine is capable of meeting the needs for the immediate response to a sudden cardiac incident.

On Friday, June 7th, the 'Melissa' staff attended a 2-hour seminar by representatives of the Ambulance Service (EKAB) on "Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with an Automated External Defibrillator", aimed at providing basic but life-saving knowledge regarding the application of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator in cases of cardiac arrest in adults and children. Additionally, practical training was conducted on handling choking incidents caused by foreign objects.

In the announcement issued by the Association, they thank Smart Gadgets Corfu shop for the donation:

"A portable external defibrillator, a modern and easy-to-use medical device capable of meeting the needs for immediate response to a sudden cardiac incident, has been installed in the 'Melissa' Special Needs Centre.

The defibrillator has been placed inside the building and is now an important aid for the Centre for Medical, Psychological, and Social Support of People with Disabilities in Corfu, which belongs to the Association of Parents, Guardians, and Friends of People with Disabilities in Corfu, benefiting the health of our children, the employees, and the residents of the facility.

The Board of Directors of the Association, the youngsters, and the 'Melissa' staff express their warmest thanks to Smart Gadgets Corfu for the valuable donation of the defibrillator, as well as to the employees of EKAB Corfu for their offer to train the staff of 'Melissa'."
