CORFU. Protesting farmers will set off in their tractors from the airport at 10:30.

The Federation of Corfu Agricultural Associations took part in the nationwide blockade coordination meeting, which took place in Nikaia, Larissa, on Tuesday, February 6th.

During this meeting, with massive and militant representation from dozens of blockades, agricultural associations, and federations, we unanimously decided to continue and escalate protests with diverse actions in cities, road closures, and participation in the rally in Athens.

The survival demands that was decided upon include:

- Reduction of production costs by introducing tax-free fuel (similar to what is done for shipowners).

- A ceiling of 7 cents per kilowatt-hour for agricultural and livestock electricity.

- Subsidies for agricultural machinery, supplies, and animal feed.

- Non-application of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Compensation for lost income for all products affected by natural disasters and diseases, with 100% reimbursement of damages.

- Prices that reflect production costs while ensuring survival income and affordable prices for popular consumer products.

In the context of these directives, the Federation of Corfu Agricultural Associations has decided on the following actions with the participation of the Workers Centre:

  • Motorcade of tractors on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the airport, ending at the Lidl junction (Eptanisou).
  • Participation in the protest rally in Athens.

Specifically for Corfu, the Federation of Agricultural Associations is advocating for:

  • The return of the OPEKEPE office to Corfu.
  • Proper pest control by the region, with state funding.
  • Infrastructure issues, focusing on rural roads.
