Clean-up operation in South Corfu

From the moment he took on his duties, the new Mayor of South Corfu, Vassilis Himariotis, took the initiative to clean up the thousands of tons of waste that had accumulated over the last two months, posing a health hazard for the residents of the area.

The new president of South Corfu municipal council, Kyriaki Pavlopoulou, stated that, with the assistance of the other municipalities on the island and the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, vehicles and containers have been mobilised, attempting for the third day today to remove the massive volumes of rubbish, providing relief for the South.
