Corfu Water Supply project temporarily delayed due to procedural issues

The SDIT projects (Public-Private Partnership projects) have been mostly transferred to the Ministry of Environment and Energy. However, the Corfu Water Supply Project remains under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

The department responsible for the project has also been transferred to the Ministry of Environment, resulting in a change in the contracting authority and a delay in the continuation of the competition.

Furthermore, according to information from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the contracts of certain consultants (technical, financial, and legal) that were supposed to be transferred from the Ministry of Environment and Energy to facilitate the continuation of the process have not been transferred yet, despite such a request being made at least a month before the administrative transfer.

For now, the signing of a decision is expected from the Ministry of Environment and Energy to transfer the contracts of the consultants. Additionally, a decision from the Minister of Infrastructure is anticipated to designate that the new Contracting Authority will be the Directorate of Flood Protection, allowing the act to be published in the Government Gazette.

However, the Ministry of Infrastructure is giving reassurances, and considers these specific delays as mere procedural issues, expected to be resolved perhaps by February 2024, and the competition will proceed normally.

The Competitive Dialogue stage

With the resolution of the aforementioned procedural obstacles and the resumption of the process, the three consortia participating in Phase B will receive the studies that have been prepared. The dialogue will commence, involving discussions on existing solutions, project budgets, design, etc.
