Power outages in parts of the island due to weather

Problems in the power supply have been caused by the bad weather on the island, with heavy rainfall and intense lightning.

Several areas in Corfu have been left without electricity due to minor or major damage to the DEDDIE network.

The most serious problems are located in the Pantokrator area (Petalia, Lafki and Strinilla) and in parts of the area from Benitses to Moraitika.

According to the Director of DEDDIE in Corfu, Nikos Sofianos, the damage is either due to lightning strikes or the collapse of trees that have caused damage to cables.

DEDDIE crews are inspecting the areas to assess the severity of the damage and to restore the power supply.
