CORFU. The few pupils were taking part in the nationwide protest on 6 November initiated by the Athens Pupils Coordinating Committee.

A protest was held in front of the General High Schools on Monday morning, with only a few pupils and students participating in response to the nationwide call from the Athens Pupils Coordinating Committee for a protest on November 6th.

The nationwide pupils protest taking place today in 33 towns across Greece aims to highlight the common demands of pupils. Specifically, students are demanding an increase in the state budget for education, safe and modern school buildings, filling teacher vacancies, upgrading school facilities (laboratories, sports facilities, cultural amenities), funding for all school trips, the abolition of the Minimum University Entry Level and the Topics Bank, while also requesting that plans for the establishment of private universities should not proceed.

In Corfu, the protest was supported by very few pupils, who arranged to meet at the General High Schools and displayed banners. Some university students from departments of the Ionian University also attended, advocating for degrees which have value and free education.

The protest concluded with a march in the town centre.
