The Association of Tourist Coach Owners has stated that the process for the assignment of school transportation services has not yet been completed, providing detailed information on the latest update from the Ionian Islands Regional Authority:
We would like to inform you that, according to the latest update we have received from the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, from its decision dated September 21, the process for the assignment of transportation services for primary and secondary education students within the jurisdiction of the Regional Unit of Corfu for the school year 2023-2024 HAS NOT YET BEEN completed.
According to the above-mentioned update, we await the following:

The approval and continuation of the process for the submission of documentation by the provisional contractors who fully meet the specifications, with regard to 8 routes.

The announcement that there was no interest from contractors for 31 routes, and the issuance of a re-invitation for tenders is expected.

The referral to the Regional Economic Committee of 6 routes for which contractors must submit additional documents.

The referral to the Regional Economic Committee of 6 routes for other factors.

The approval of the 115 routes under investigation, for which the Committee will reach a decision in the immediate future. It is worth noting that payment to contractors for the period from January 9, 2023, to June 15, 2023, is also pending.
We stand by the parents of the pupilss and recognise that, in order not to miss their classes, they will need to find their own means of transportation, although this is not always possible, regardless of whether they have transportation or work during those hours. We are awaiting the results!
