North Corfu Mayor Mahimaris presents party΄s 23 priorities ahead of upcoming municipal elections
CORFU. "We are here, determined, with hard work, strategy, vision and realism to redefine, continue and complete what we started. For the North Corfu Municipality."
The municipal and local candidates for the North Corfu is Changing - A Power for Development party for the four North Corfu districts - Agios Georgios, Esperia, Thinalia and Kassiopi - were presented at a special event in Sidari on Saturday, 16 September.
"We are here, determined, with hard work, strategy, vision and realism to redefine, continue and complete what we started. For the North Corfu Municipality," said Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris, who is hoping to be re-elected.
In his speech, Giorgos Mahimaris addressed in detail the small and large infrastructure and service projects that have been completed, are in progress or are planned with secured funding.
He outlined the following 23 priorities for works and services:
1. CLEANLINESS: A PREREQUISITE FOR DEVELOPMENT - QUALITY OF LIFE: Our area is beautiful... cleaner and more beautiful. We have solved the cleanliness issue.
2. RECYCLING: REDUCE - REUSE - RECYCLE - COMPOST
3. WATER SUPPLY (WATER = LIFE): We are solving the water supply problem every day.
4. MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT. We are making the municipality great with strong foundations.
5. SCHOOL FACILITIES - EDUCATION
6. SPORTS FACILITIES.
7. ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE: ROADS - SAFETY - RESPECT FOR LIFE
8. ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ORGANISATION/SERVICE to improve and beautify the road network.
9. STREET LIGHTING: Light everywhere!
10. HARBOURS
11. CIVIL PROTECTION... as a top priority! Protect and fortify our municipality, our lives and the future of our children.
12. PRIMARY PRODUCTION SECTOR
13. TOURISM
14. Social policy... Priority to people. We have established a Directorate.
15. Care for the welfare of stray animals.
16. CULTURE
17. CIVILISED EVERYDAY LIFE
18. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

20. ORGANISATION OF MUNICIPAL INTERNAL SERVICES

23. Our final priority encompasses all of the above, which define the quality of our lives.
