The Ionian University Music Department, in collaboration with the Corfu branch of the Hellenic Society for Social Pediatrics and Health Promotion and the Corfu Surgical Association, is continuing to implement the music education programme for infants and toddlers (1 to 6 years old).

The aim of the programme is to strengthen children's contact with music, as well as parents with their children through music. The courses for the period from 1 October 2023 to 31 January 2024 will be taught by the Ionian University Music Department students Michailia Katsikalaki, Violetta Barla and Sophia Tziliou in collaboration with other students of the Music Department.

Zoe Dionysiou, Associate Professor of Music Education at the Ionian University, is responsible for the programme. The courses are taking place at the Corfu Clinic (Skaramanga Square) once a week for each age group of children with the following schedule:

- Wednesday 16:00-17:00, 3.5-5.5 years old

- Wednesday 17:00-18:00, children 2-3 years old

- Wednesday 18:00-19:00, children 1-2 years old

- Friday 16:00-17:00, children 3-4.5 years old

- Friday 17:00-18:00, children 2-3 years old

- Friday 18:00-19:00, children 1-2 years old

Classes consist of approximately 12 children with an equal number of parents. Music activities are based on music education approaches and materials for pre-school children that have been developed over the past 14 years of the programme.

Children up to 3-3.5 years old are accompanied by a parent in class who is invited to actively participate.

Parents of older children are suggested to wait in the waiting area on the ground floor of the clinic.

Those interested can register at the Corfu Clinic (26610 39615, Skaramanga Square). Participation for each child in the 4-month programme is €50 or €80 for two siblings (part of the money covers the needs for the renewal of the educational material of the programme). The money is paid upon registration and will be on a first come first served basis.
