Special traffic measures for 10 and 11 August
CORFU. There will be special traffic measures in Corfu Town for Varkarola in Garitsa Bay on Thursday evening, as well as the religious events commemorating the miracle of Saint Spyridon on Friday, August 11th
On 10 and 11 August the following events will be taking place in Corfu Town:
Thursday 10th: "Varkarola 2023: The sounds of the sea" at 22:00 in Garitsa Bay.
Friday 11th: Procession with Sacred Relics of St. Spyridon at 09:00 in Corfu Town.
The following traffic measures will be in place for the above events:
Closed to traffic
From 22: on 10/8 until 11:00 on 11/9 the following roads will be closed to traffic:
Stamatiou Desylla (from the intersection with G. Theotoki to Rizospaston Voulefton), Aspioti, Akadimias, Agoniston Polytechniou, Viktor Dousmani, Dimokratias Ave (from the Douglas Column up to the intersection with Agoniston Polytechniou - NAOK), Georgiou Theotoki (traffic flow towards Stamatiou Desylla), Rizospaston Voulefton (excluding the section between Iakovou Polyla and Vraila Armeni), Vraila Armeni (from Dinou Theotoki to Dimokratias Ave).
Traffic will be diverted at the following points:
- Alexandras Ave and Dimokratias Ave (Douglas Column)
- St. Desyllas and G. Theotoki (pedestrian area)
- Alexandras Ave and G. Theotoki
- Alexandras Ave and Riz. Voulefton (Post Office)
No stopping or parking
Between 15:00 and 24:00 on 10/8 on Dimokratias Ave (from Douglas Column to NAOK)
Between 00:30 and 11:00 on 11/8 on the procession route and Eleftherias, Capodistriou, Agoniston Polytechniou, Vas. Georgiou A and Viktoras Dousmani.
Temporary parking areas
There will be temporary parking areas available for visitors at the following locations:
- Corfu Port, with entrance and exit at the roundabout.
- Corfu National Sports Centre
- Outside Garitsa Cemetery.
Please note that illegally parked vehicles will be towed away.
