Washing of pavements and public areas in Corfu Town
CORFU. Mayor Meropi Ydraiou: "The cleaning services in the town and municipal districts are a vital part of our municipality΄s regular activities."
(Central Corfu Municipality) Central Corfu and Diapontian Islands Municipal Cleaning Service crews were out again last night washing pavements, public spaces and the main streets of the town.
San Rocco Square, the Evgeneiou Voulgareos Street and the other streets were nice and clean once more.
The cleaning of the town, which includes street washing, cleaning pavements with brushes and pressure machines, and the overall improvement of public spaces, is now scheduled on a regular basis as part of the Municipality's approach to cleanliness in recent years.
The Municipality's Green Service has proceeded with the placement of natural enemies (ladybirds) to address the aphid problem, which has created a very unpleasant image on the town's pavements and streets every year at this time.
"The cleaning operations in our town, as well as in our Municipal districts, are now part of our regular Municipality planning. That's why we urge businesses to keep their utilised space clean and presentable and to remove their waste after collection and cleaning! This process is a tangible proof of the change that has occurred in the functioning of our services. It is also another step towards a town that is clean from the largest street to the smallest pavement," stated Mayor Meropi Ydraiou.
