CORFU. "The Joint Ministerial Decision will have an irreparable impact on local photography studios, leading to the closure of many businesses."

Corfu photographers demonstrated outside the former Prefecture building as part of nationwide protests by the Panhellenic Federation against a new oint Ministerial Decision that includes regulations for identity card and passport photographs. Specifically, the regulation provides that the photograph for the issuance of a police ID card "can be taken directly by the issuing authorities".

Corfu PASOK KINAL MP Dimitris Biagas was also present to support the photographers and said that his party would submit a question to Parliament today, in order to protect the professional rights of photographers.

As stated in their announcement, the Panhellenic Federation claims that the regulation creates great uncertainty for photographers' futures, as creates the potential for of monopolisation.

"This specific amendment will have an irreparable impact on local photography studios, leading to the closure of many businesses and hardship for many families who provide an important service to the Greek public on a daily basis."
