CORFU. The Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection Nikos Miliotis, aged 62, died suddenly from myocardial infarction yesterday evening.

The Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection Nikos Miliotis, aged 62, died suddenly from myocardial infarction. Late in the afternoon he felt severe chest pain and was rushed to hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the doctors, he passed away.
 
He was born in 1961 in Afra, Corfu. He was married with two children and a retired police officer.
 
In 2013 he was elected President of the Ionian Islands Regional Council. In May 2019 he was re-elected as a regional councillor in the Corfu Regional Unit, while in April 2020 he was appointed Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection.
