Deputy Mayor Chrysoula Tombrou: "650 strays received veterinary care - 200 were adopted"

CORFU. According to data from the Central Corfu Municipality΄s Primary Sector Department.

The Deputy Mayor Chrysoula Tombrou gave the data on the results of the stray animal management programme to date, stressing that the shelter for stray animals that is under construction was another pre-election promise that it is now being fulfilled.
 
As she stated, the Central Corfu Municipality, through the Primary Sector Department, is implementing every year a programme for the medical care and feeding. The sixth cycle of the programme is already underway.
 
According to data from the Primary Sector Department, from 2020 to date 480 stray dogs, and for the first time 170 cats, were sterilised for free and received veterinary care.
 
With the valuable cooperation of volunteers and associations, 200 animals were adopted, while for the first time 25 feeding and watering spots have been developed within the municipality.
 
The Deputy Mayor Chrysoula Tombrou pointed out the following: "The way we treat animals shows the level of our humanity and culture. As a municipal authority, in response to the existing needs, we are creating new infrastructure and solving longstanding problems. The abovementioned data are also proving our interest and the work we have done in this area, in cooperation with volunteers and associations.
 
The shelter for stray animals that is being constructed was another pre-election promise that it is now being fulfilled. We continue to move forward with great interest and a sense of responsibility".
