Corfu 2nd Vocational High School

Apart from the school in Mantouki, steps have now begun to do the same at the 2nd Vocational High School. "We have submitted a proposal for funding of €700,000 from a Ministry of Education programme for repairs and the acquisition of equipment," said Mr. Kalogeros.

Less funding

He added that, although funding for primary and secondary schools has been decreasing annually, the municipality is continuing to request more funding in order to restore school facilities.

"The schools in town are old and require a large amount of funding," he said. "The municipality hasn't missed out on any state funding. Our schools need continuous work and we are doing everything in our power to make this happen."

With regard to fire safety, he said that a contractor to complete fire safety studies for all the municipal schools has been chosen following the second tender process and the contract will be signed shortly.
