Over 1,500 pupils given guided tour of Corfu museums and archaeological sites

CORFU. The school pupils were given the tours on the occasion of International Tourist Guide Day.
The Ionian Islands & Western Greece Union of Tourist Guides took part again this year in the worldwide events for International Tourist Guide Day with free guided tours for Corfu schools.
Over 1,500 primary and secondary school pupils were given guided tours of four museums and three archaeological and historical sites. 24 guides took part, doing what they love the most - promoting and explaining our cultural heritage.
International Tourist Guide Day is held on 21 February every year but events and activities take place for several days before and after this date. For
The theme for 2023 set by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations is "Rethinking Tourism, Regenerating Our Profession".
In line with this, the Union of Tourist Guides is organising a two-day event on 23 and 24 February for members and anyone interested. The event will include talks and presentations on modern developments and concerns regarding tourism as well as others to promote and discuss cultural heritage.
The speakers will be from the Ionian University teaching staff and other research experts.
The two-day event is being organised in collaboration with the Ionian University Department of Museum Studies and with the support of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality and the Panhellenic Federation of Tourist Guides and will take place at the Ionian University.
