ATHENS. By the end of the week the new e-ticketing system will be in operation.
The new e-ticketing and access control systems have been set up and are in operation for the first archaeological sites and museums (Acropolis and archaeological sites in the historical centre of Athens, Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum along with the archaeological site and museum in Ancient Messinia). Pilot tests have been carried out and the system was able to successfully handle high traffic to all the sites under real conditions.
The Ministry for Culture and Sport announced, on behalf of all those involved in the restructuring and modernisation of the Fund of Archaeological Proceeds services, that by the end of the week the e-ticketing system will be in operation and that there will shortly be further updates.
The project is funded by donations from the National Bank of Greece and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and implemented by the Messinia Archaeological Studies Company.
