Pupils lay wreaths for national 28th October anniversary

Pupils, scouts and guides laid wreaths at the Hero Statue today for the national 28th October anniversary.

15 primary schools, 10 junior high schools and 10 high schools took part at the laying of wreaths, while representatives from Corfu's Education Departments were also present.

The pupils that will be carrying the Greek flag at the parade tomorrow met at the Hero Statue and layed the wreaths with pride.

One minute's silence was observed and at the end the national anthem was sung.
 
 
Parade on 28 October
 
The celebrations for the national 28th October anniversary will culminate tomorrow with the parade that will start at 12:15. Scouts, pupils, units from the armed forces, police, port authority, fire department, border guards and philharmonic bands will be taking part.
 
The Government will be represented by Deputy Health Minister Mina Gaga, who arrived in Corfu today to discuss problems at Corfu Hospital following the resignations of five doctors.
