CORFU. For the fourth year running the Corfu branch of AHEPA and Corfu Music School are providing free extracurricular lessons to Mathraki Primary School pupils.
As in the previous three years, the two organisations are offering free music, dance and foreign language lessons not only to Diapontia Island pupils but also to any other islanders who so wish.
The foreign language lessons cover English and French and are supervised by the Ionian University emeritus professor and AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) founding member Nikolaos Papadimitriou. The teaching is done by Maria Dafou.
The music lessons are given by choir conductor and Corfu Music School teacher Agathi Koskina and, as in previous years, those interested can also follow lessons in traditional and modern dance from Marianna Dranou.
All the lessons are free as part of the efforts of the Corfu branch of AHEPA to provide support for residents and pupils on the Diapontia Islands. The local AHEPA President Yiannis Kontostanos and the rest of the board have given warm thanks to all those assisting in the implementation of the programme.
