Worker crushed by earth in Sidari dies

CORFU. Tragic workplace accident.
The worker who was crushed by falling earth in Sidari, North Corfu this morning was pulled out of the earth dead.
Work was being carried out on the foundations of a house when the worker was buried in 3.5 metres of falling earth at around 09:00. An ambulance and four fire engines with twelve firefighters rushed to the scene but when they freed the 50-year-old foreign national he was already dead.
His body was taken to Corfu Hospital and an investigation is being conducted into the cause of the accident.
