CORFU. Work is underway to upgrade the MOT Centre.
Corfu public MOT Centre is being upgraded and will now include a separate section for motorcycles. According to Deputy Regional Governor for Corfu Kostas Zorbas, the public facility will be able to check motorcycles for the first time - up to now it had only handled cars, vans, lorries and buses.
"Up to now the public MOT Centre couldn't check motorcycles," Mr. Zorbas told Enimerosi. "We are now in the process of allowing motorcycles to come to the facility and they will be checked in a separate section. I believe this is a positive step as, if we have a public MOT Centre, then it has to be able to check motorcycles as well as other vehicles."
Work underway
Mr. Zorbas said that work is underway to upgrade Corfu Public MOT Centre and it is expected to be completed within the next three months. The current service has not been affected by the work being carried out at the facility, which has a budget of €450k (including VAT).
Proper maintenance and renovation work at the MOT Centre has not been carried out for years. It was contracted out on 29 July 2021 and the work began in 2022.
