Strong start to tourist season - Hellenic Statistical Authority figures

This year’s tourist season has started very well for Corfu. According to the Hellenic Statistical Authority, there was a 204.9% increase in the accommodation establishments’ turnover in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, while for the catering establishments there was a 120.9% increase.
 
In particular, for the accommodation establishments, for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in March 2022 was €91,897,549 – a 240.7% increase compared to March 2021, when it was at €26,969,308.
 
For the catering establishments, for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in March 2022 was €123,882,427 – a 115.2% increase compared to March 2021, when it was at €57,555,388.
 
For both the accommodation and catering establishments, for which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in March 2022 was €215,779,976 – a 155.3% increase compared to March 2021, when it was at €84,524,696.
 
When it comes to businesses in Regional Units with a contribution to total turnover in 2021 of more than 1.0%, Zakynthos had the largest increase in turnover in March 2022 compared to March 2021 (435,8%), while Heraklion had the smallest increase (120.9%).
