16 Corfu beaches awarded Blue Flags

The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF), which is the the national operator of the international Blue Flag Programme, has announced this year's Blue Flag awards in Greece for beaches, marinas and sustainable tourism boats.

Greece occupies second place amongst the 53 participating countries with 581 award-winning beaches. For the first time this  year, there were over 600 awards and Greece has 14% of worldwide award-winning beaches. The top region in Greece this year is once again Halkidiki with 96 Blue Flags. The International Committee gave awards to 4,194 beaches, 732 marinas and 116 tourist boats worldwide.

The Blue Flag Awards have now been in existence for 35 years around the world and in Greece.
