CORFU. One set of sunbeds and umbrella on organised beaches from €6 to €20. Significant price differences per area.

Those who wish to enjoy a swim in the organised beaches of Corfu should dig deep into their pockets. There are significant price differendes from area to area, as a set with two sunbeds and one umbrella can start from €6 and reach up to €20 with the total amount being particularly high in case of a family of four!

If you add the extra money needed for fuel, coffee and snacks, the price is hitting household budgets. Price increases are already being seen in several organised beaches on the island, as the general increase in prices has affected everything.

A businessowner on the main beach in Paleokastritsa told Enimerosi that prices have risen by 15%, due to increases in almost all items. As a result, this year, prices for the same services provided last year have also increased.

Sunbeds in Paleokastritsa from €15 to €20

For example, at the main beach in Paleokastritsa, the cost for a set of two sunbeds and an umbrella is €15 this year, when last year it was €12. Coffee costs from €3.5 to €4.20, natural juices are €5, soft drinks are €3.5, beer is €4 to €5, while a finger food snack costs from €9 to €10 and a salad from €9 to €12.

If someone prefers to go to a restaurant, depending on what they will order, they will pay €20 or more per person. On other beaches in the same area, the price for a set of sunbeds can vary depending on which row it is in. The closer to the sea the more expensive they are – the first row is €20 and the second row is €16, while the price does not include a drink or something else.

At Barbati, another popular beach, a set costs €10 and in some cases the price includes free water bottles. A coffee can cost from €3.80 to €4, while beer prices start at €4. On the beaches near Kontokali, the cost of a sunbed is more affordable as it is €5, while a coffee is €3 and a beer is €4.

Glyfada – Kontoyialos – Ai Gordis

A set of sunbeds at the Kontoyialos beach is one or two euros more expensive, depending on each business' policy, as it costs from €7 to €10, while drinks and food are being charged extra. Coffee costs from €3 to €4, beers from €5 and snacks from €9. In Glyfada the set is €12, while in Ai Gordis, depending on the business, the set is either offered free of charge but with the obligation to order or it is €5.

Cheaper beaches in South Corfu

Beaches in South Corfu are a cheaper solution. In Prasoudi a set of two sunbeds and an umbrella is €6, in Halikounas it is €8, in Messonghi it is €7, in Gardeno it is €6, but in Agios Ioannis Peristeron it is €10. However, the cost of the fuel, the drinks and the food should also be added to the final amount, with the total price eventually being quite high.
