The platform will be available from today – The programme will initially be implemented in 32 Greek Municipalities.
The platform ntantades.gov.gr and the ‘Register of Curators’ open today (Tuesday 29 March 2022), where anyone wishing to be certified and employed as a curator will be registered under the co-funded ‘Neighbourhood Nannies’ programme.
The programme concerns the home care of infants and toddlers aged from 2 months to 2.5 years and provides financial support to working parents, single parents, foster parents and especially mothers to take advantage of certified childcare services.
The programme will initially be implemented in 32 Greek Municipalities, including the North Corfu Municipality.
Regarding the programme, Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas stated the following: “This is a modern programme that is already being implemented with great success in many European countries and will fill the existing gaps in home care services for infants and toddlers aged from 2 months to 2.5 years. The Government and the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs are implementing another one of our pre-election commitments by supporting young parents and especially young mothers who choose to continue working after giving birth. This is a social policy that helps to address the demographic issue, supports the new family, as well as the single-parent one, and aims to balance family and professional life”.
The Municipalities included in the programme
In detail, the programme will be applied in the Municipalities of Avdira, North Kynouria, Kavala, Orestiada, Amphilochia, Gortyna, Karpathos, Palamas, Eastern Samos, Dion-Olympos, Kropia, Pinios, Andros, Emmanuel Pappas, Levadeon, Preveza, Apokoronas, Eordea, Mandra-Idyllia, Rigas Feraios, Velo-Vocha, Evrotas, Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna, Sami, Voio, Ikaria, Mykonos, Souli, North Corfu, Istiaia-Edipsos, Naxos and Small Cyclades and Syros Hermoupolis.
Gradually throughout the whole country
The ‘Neighbourhood Nannies’ programme aims to balance personal and professional life, which is one of the key objectives of the EU Gender Equality Strategy for the coming years. The project will initially be implemented at the beginning of 2022 and will then be gradually implemented throughout the country.
The project mainly concerns the care of infants aged between 2 months and 2.5 years and provides for financial support to – mainly working – parents, single parents, foster parents and families in general, for the care of their child or children, either in the family’s home or the caregiver’s home.
According to the Ministry of Employment, the programme has two objectives. On the one hand, it aims to support and facilitate women, mothers and guardians so that they can achieve full reintegration into the labour market and continue their professional careers after having a child and, on the other hand, to reduce undeclared work by encouraging unemployed people, and especially women, to work as childminders, following certification.
The applications
Access is open to parents and persons having custody of infants and toddlers, as well as to natural persons wishing to register in the 'Register of Curators'.
