CORFU. A very dense network of recorders has been created, which allows the best study of seismic movement of soil and critical infrastructures.

The Ionian University is participating in the ‘Telemachus’ project, with the Ionian Islands Region, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the National Observatory of Athens and the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization as partners.

The project is funded by the Ionian Islands Operational Programme 2014-2020.

The Ionian University is responsible for the creation of an information system for the best crisis management in case of an earthquake.

Through the project, modern equipment was purchased that enriches and improves the national seismic risk monitoring network. In addition, an innovative low-cost seismograph software was developed by the Ionian University Computer Modelling Laboratory.

The low-cost seismographs achieve for the first time at national level the creation of a very dense network of recorders that allows the best study of seismic movement of soil and critical infrastructures.
