EOAEN supports MP Manos Konsolas΄ proposal to impose cap on fuel prices on islands

ATHENS. The high increase in fuel prices, especially on the islands, has caused financial pressure on businesses and households.
The Chamber's Group for the Development of Greek Island (EOAEN), which is the collective body of island chambers, expressed its support for the proposal submitted by the MP for the Dodecanese Manos Konsolas to impose a cap on fuel prices in islands.
EOAEN's letter to the Ministers for Energy and Development, Mr. Skrekas and Mr. Georgiadis:
Ministers,
The Chambers' Group for the Development of Greek Island (EOAEN) fully supports MP for the Dodecanese Manos Konsolas' proposal for the imposition of a cap on fuel prices on the islands.
The high increase in fuel prices, especially on the islands, and, in particular, the price of unleaded petrol, which is currently almost €2 per litre on the bigger islands and €2.20 per litre or more on the smaller ones, has caused financial pressure on businesses and households.
Because the international circumstances and developments are indicating that there will be a new high record in fuel prices on the islands, the imposition of a cap is, in our opinion, the last but also the only and most effective solution to protect the islands' economic and social sectors from increases.
Therefore, we are asking you to respond positively to the proposal to impose a cap on fuel prices on the islands, in order to stop the continuous price increases, which have made businesses in islands to be in despair in view of the start of the tourist season.
